About Zonova

Zonova Tech is a software studio in Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka. We design and build web platforms, mobile apps and cloud infrastructure for clients, and we build our own products under the Zonova Group, including Zonova Shop, Zonova Lens and Zonova Mist.

We work without layers on purpose. There are no account managers and no training queue. You work directly with the people making the decisions, and the work you do ships with your name on it.

What you'll do

• Own the requirements on your projects. Run discovery with the client, ask the awkward questions, and write the spec.
• Turn what a client says into something an engineer can build from, such as user stories, flows and acceptance criteria.
• Be the person the engineers ask when something in the spec is ambiguous, and make the call.
• Own product analytics across the Zonova Group, covering Tech, Shop, Lens and Mist. Know what is working and what is not.
• Bring what the numbers say to the founders directly, with a recommendation attached.
• Own acceptance: before a release goes out, check that what we built is what we promised, log the gaps and sign it off.
• Own how the studio documents itself, recording how work moves from a client conversation to a deployed feature, written down and kept current.

What we're looking for

• You write clearly. This role is mostly writing, and vague writing costs the team real time.
• Comfortable on a call with a client, including asking a question you think might be obvious.
• You can look at a set of numbers and say what changed and why it matters.
• Organised, and able to hold several projects in your head at once.
• Confident written and spoken English. Sinhala is a strong plus.
• Reliable internet and your own laptop.
• Available full-time. This is a full-time remote internship.

Nice to have

• A degree or coursework in business, IT, management or something adjacent.
• You have used a spreadsheet for something more interesting than a list.
• Familiarity with Figma, Notion, Jira or similar.
• Any exposure to how software actually gets built, whether a project, an internship or a side build.
